Ashok Gehlot Alleges BJP Offered ₹10 Crore to MLAs to Topple Rajasthan Government

Jaipur, June 5: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has once again targeted the BJP and opposition regarding the political crisis in July 2020. Gehlot claimed that a deal of ₹35 crore was made for each MLA to bring down the Rajasthan government, with ₹10 crore given as an advance that was never returned. He expressed concern over the silence surrounding such issues in the country.

Speaking to the media in Jaipur, Gehlot asserted that there were extensive attempts at horse-trading to destabilize the Congress government in Rajasthan, with offers of millions of rupees made to MLAs. He emphasized that the Congress successfully managed to save the government during that political turmoil.

Gehlot accused the BJP of increasingly relying on tactics to topple governments and engage in the buying and selling of MLAs. He alleged that former Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Home Minister Amit Shah were heavily involved in these efforts to bring down the Rajasthan government. He noted that some meetings of MLAs were held in Delhi, and the Congress leadership was aware of the entire situation.

He further claimed that the BJP even sent special planes to transport MLAs, but these efforts failed as circumstances changed. Gehlot suggested that the BJP grew concerned that their own MLAs might be influenced, leading to a shift in strategy.

Referencing the current political climate in West Bengal, Gehlot expressed fears of similar political maneuvers occurring there. He highlighted a growing atmosphere of fear and pressure in the country, stressing the need to strengthen democratic institutions.

On the increasing competition in politics, Gehlot remarked that leaders should focus on enhancing their own capabilities and work styles rather than undermining others. He called for a revival of the tradition of engaging with the public, particularly the poor, marginalized, and Scheduled Castes.

Reflecting on his political career, Gehlot expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has had and the trust placed in him by the Gandhi family. He stated that he has achieved much in life and hopes the new generation will dedicate themselves to strengthening the nation and upholding democratic values.

Commenting on the state government and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Gehlot noted that there are many questions regarding the decision-making process in the state. He urged the Chief Minister to accept both suggestions and criticism alongside well-wishes, emphasizing that constructive criticism is essential for improving governance.
