Jaipur, August 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has clarified its candidate selection process for the upcoming Panchayat and municipal elections in Rajasthan. State president Madan Rathore announced that the party will choose candidates based on surveys, ensuring no discrimination against any party worker during ticket distribution.
Rathore emphasized that priority will be given to individuals who are dedicated to public service, can devote time to community development, and are popular at the local level.
He also indicated that leaders who have switched from Congress to BJP will be considered for tickets. Rathore stated that the party will not discriminate against anyone. Candidates who are active in public service and have the support of the community may be fielded in the elections. The goal is not just to distribute tickets but to select candidates capable of winning and advancing development initiatives.
Rathore highlighted the importance of continuity in development, noting that the public is aware and values progress during elections. He pointed out that with the BJP in power at both the central and state levels, having a BJP government in local bodies would accelerate development projects. He asserted that the public desires development and will make decisions based on this criterion during the elections.
In response to questions regarding the reservation lottery for OBC, SC, and ST positions, Rathore countered Congress state president Govind Singh Dotarsara’s inquiries. He stated that the reservation process is not determined by the government but is based on the OBC commission’s report, which is part of the electoral process. Rathore remarked that it is inappropriate to directly blame the government in this matter.
Addressing allegations of untouchability following a speech by Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, Rathore responded to claims made by BJP workers regarding alleged purification of the platform. He affirmed that the BJP does not accept untouchability and views society as a whole. Rathore accused the opposition of creating divisions by raising non-issues. He reiterated that the BJP practices politics that unites society and rejects any form of social discrimination.
