New Delhi: In a significant push toward expanding its next-generation network services, state-run telecom giant BSNL has officially soft-launched its Quantum 5G FWA (Fixed Wireless Access) service, branded as BSNL Q-5G FWA. The announcement was made on Wednesday through the company’s official social media channels.

“Hyderabad witnesses the future,” the post read, highlighting that BSNL CMD A. Robert J. Ravi inaugurated the Quantum 5G FWA service in Hyderabad. The new service is now live in select cities, with the promise of lightning-fast, wire-free internet.
What is BSNL Q-5G FWA?
BSNL’s newly branded Q-5G FWA — short for Quantum 5G — is a fixed wireless internet service designed to deliver ultra-high-speed connectivity without the need for traditional wiring or SIM cards. The service leverages local TECHNOLOGY and advanced wireless infrastructure to provide seamless internet access, particularly for businesses and enterprises.
At this stage, consumer-level access is not yet available, as the current rollout focuses on commercial users. According to BSNL, the Q-5G FWA service is India’s first 5G FWA solution to operate independently of wires or SIM-based access.

Pricing and Service Details
The Quantum 5G FWA service is priced starting at ₹999 per month, offering only high-speed data — there is no voice-calling functionality included in the plan. The offering is aimed at businesses requiring robust internet for enterprise applications, remote work, and IoT deployment.
Massive Network Expansion Planned
In parallel with the Q-5G rollout, BSNL is aggressively working to expand its 4G and 5G coverage across India. The company plans to install an additional 1 lakh new 4G and 5G mobile towers, pending final approval from the Union Cabinet.
In 2024, BSNL had committed to activating the same number of towers, and as of now, over 70,000 towers have already gone live — a move that is expected to dramatically improve network capacity and internet speed across the country.
BSNL is also in the final stages of improving its 4G services and preparing for a wider 5G commercial launch for the public.

India’s Digital Push
BSNL’s Quantum 5G FWA service aligns with the Government of India’s broader Digital India vision. By offering high-speed, wire-free internet to businesses, BSNL is positioning itself to better compete with private telecom operators such as Jio and Airtel, who have made major inroads into 5G services.
As the service gradually expands into more cities, BSNL Q-5G FWA could play a key role in delivering last-mile connectivity in urban centers, industrial zones, and even rural areas — an essential step in bridging India’s digital divide.
