Gandhinagar, March 2: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has initiated various projects to equip its cities with modern amenities. The Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GUDM) is enhancing citizens’ quality of life through improved infrastructure and effective organization in both major cities and municipal areas.
In recognition of the state’s urban development efforts, the India Water Foundation (IWF) has announced that it will present the ‘Best Community Impact Project Award’ for the Integrated Command and Control Center established to oversee sewer network cleaning in 156 municipalities across Gujarat.
Guided by the state’s Minister for Urban Development and Urban Housing, Kanubhai Desai, the advanced Integrated Command and Control Center has strengthened this system through the use of technology. Maintenance of the sewer network in municipal areas has improved significantly, leading to the conservation of millions of liters of water due to water reuse initiatives. The integration of technology has also enhanced operational monitoring, thereby realizing the vision of environmentally sustainable urban development.
In light of these achievements, the GUDM will be honored with the Best Community Impact Project Award during the Water Transversality Global Awards and Conclave 2026, organized by the India Water Foundation on March 6 and 7 in New Delhi.
