Los Angeles, March 6: After an impressive 23 seasons in the NBA, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James continues to break records. On Thursday, he achieved a significant milestone by becoming the NBA’s all-time leader in career field goals made.
James, now 41, set this record in the first quarter of the game against the Denver Nuggets, executing a fadeaway shot that he has perfected over the years.
With this achievement, James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who held the previous record with 15,837 field goals made during his illustrious 20-year career, primarily with the Lakers.
This latest record adds to the list of milestones where James has overtaken Abdul-Jabbar, including minutes played, field goals attempted, and points scored. Notably, James set the points record in 2023 during a close game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, hitting the historic shot at the end of the third quarter.
Over his remarkable career, which is also an NBA record, James has accomplished numerous feats. He is a 22-time All-Star, has made 21 All-NBA teams, and is a six-time All-Defensive team honoree. Additionally, he was the scoring champion in 2007-08, the Rookie of the Year in 2003-04, and has won the NBA Finals four times. His legacy as a future Hall of Famer has been firmly established.
Despite his achievements, James has not yet confirmed his retirement plans. With his contract set to expire at the end of the 2025-26 NBA season, speculation surrounds whether he will retire this offseason. However, he has not made any announcements, leaving the possibility open for a 24th season in the NBA.
This season, James has shown he still has much to offer, averaging 21.6 points, 7.0 assists, and 5.6 rebounds per game. Beyond seeking another championship, he has little left to prove in the NBA. He is often debated as either the greatest or second-greatest player of all time, alongside Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.
James’ career is marked not only by his on-court excellence but also by his remarkable longevity. Before the current season concludes, he is likely to set the record for the most games played in NBA history. No player has maintained such high performance for this long, and his numerous all-time records solidify his status as one of the greatest players in NBA history.
