Mustard Oil Tanker Overturns on NH-27 in Udaipur, Driver Injured

UDAIPUR, March 6, 2026 (Daily Udaipur): A tanker loaded with mustard oil overturned after losing control on National Highway-27 in Udaipur district on Friday morning, leaving the driver injured and trapped inside the cabin.

The accident occurred around 8 am near Kirtiraj Hotel under the Gogunda police station area. The injured driver has been identified as Bhai Thakur (40), a resident of Palanpur in Gujarat.

According to local reports, the driver got badly stuck inside the tanker’s cabin after the vehicle overturned. As news of the accident spread, hundreds of villagers reached the spot carrying empty utensils, buckets and drums. Instead of helping rescue the driver, many people reportedly tried to collect the mustard oil spilling from the tanker.

Police soon arrived at the scene and dispersed the crowd to control the situation. Sub-Inspector Hitesh Yadav of Gogunda police station, along with his team, pushed back the villagers and managed the situation at the site.

After considerable effort, the police team rescued the trapped driver from the cabin and rushed him to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Preliminary information suggests that the tanker was travelling from Kandla in Gujarat to Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh carrying mustard oil. The accident is believed to have occurred after the driver allegedly put the tanker in neutral on a downhill stretch, causing the vehicle to go out of control, hit a rock and overturn on the roadside.

Following the accident, mustard oil started spilling along the roadside, attracting villagers from nearby areas who attempted to collect it in containers. Police later used a crane to move the overturned tanker to the side of the road.
