Jaipur, October 19: In a recent statement, Tika Ram Julie, the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly, launched a scathing attack on the BJP government regarding issues related to cattle welfare, farmers, and rising inflation. He emphasized that the public is now aware of the discrepancies between the BJP’s promises and their actions, particularly after the party’s election pledges have seemingly been forgotten once in power.
Concerns Over Cattle Shelter Funding
Julie pointed out that the government, which seeks votes in the name of cows, has left cattle shelter operators to plead for timely funding in Jaipur. He noted that the Congress government had committed to providing nine months of financial support to ensure the proper care of cattle.
On October 9, cattle shelter operators held a rally named ‘Go Rights Roar’ at the Shri Pinjarapol Gaushala on Tonk Road in Jaipur. Organized under the banner of the Rajasthan Cow Service Committee, their primary demand was to extend the support period from nine to twelve months. They also raised concerns about approximately 100 crore rupees that had been withdrawn from the shelters’ accounts under the guise of audit recovery.
Criticism Over Statements Regarding Pakistan
Julie criticized the BJP for using Pakistan as a political tool for years. He highlighted recent comments made by BJP state president Madan Rathore, which have raised questions about the party’s political integrity. This controversy began after Rathore’s remarks at an event in Jaipur on October 15, which he later claimed were misinterpreted in the context of a cricket match.
Rising Inflation Concerns
Julie reminded the public of the BJP’s election slogan, “Enough of inflation, this time Modi’s government,” stating that inflation has made life difficult for the average citizen. He noted that the cost of essential goods has skyrocketed, leaving families struggling, especially with the upcoming Diwali festival.
“The public is no longer swayed by slogans; they are evaluating the government’s performance based on their real-life circumstances,” Julie asserted.
Allegations of Insufficient Irrigation for Farmers
Julie accused the government of failing to provide adequate irrigation water to farmers, who are now in distress trying to save their crops. He recalled that during the Congress government’s tenure, farmers benefited from zero electricity bills and loan waivers. He questioned the current government’s commitment to increasing farmers’ income, ensuring sufficient irrigation, and reducing farming costs.
The issue of irrigation has been a consistent topic for the Congress party. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot recently stated that many dams in the state remain empty, leading to the death of thousands of cows in Jaisalmer. As of now, there has been no response from the BJP or the government regarding Julie’s statements.
