Jaipur, March 30: The issue of alleged threats to officials has sparked a new controversy in Rajasthan’s political landscape. Opposition Leader Tikaram Julie has sharply criticized Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, labeling his statement as “substandard.”
Julie accused Shekhawat of being frustrated over not being appointed Chief Minister, especially after first-time MLA Bhajanlal Sharma was given the position. He suggested that this frustration has led to inappropriate behavior towards officials. Furthermore, he condemned the state government for remaining silent on the matter, stating that they are “sitting with their mouths full of curd.”
In a post on his social media platform, Julie claimed that intimidating officials and employees has become a trend for the BJP. He also noted that Shekhawat had previously written to the then-SP of Jodhpur Rural regarding similar issues.
Julie described the government’s silence as cowardly and a betrayal of the interests of millions of employees in the state. He urged employees to carry out their duties according to the Constitution without yielding to any pressure, assuring them of his support.
On Saturday, during a public hearing in Bapini, Phalodi district, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat warned officials that if any worker was mistreated or their work obstructed, he would ruin both their job and life with “one phone call.” This statement has intensified political rhetoric across the state.
