Rahul Gandhi Criticizes Resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Calls Him a Symbol of Corruption

New Delhi, July 26: Following the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on the central government. He described Pradhan’s resignation as a result of student protests, asserting that his departure was inevitable.

In a media interaction, Gandhi stated, “Pradhan had to go. It’s good that he has left.” He accused Pradhan of becoming a symbol of corruption and claimed that his tenure severely harmed the country’s education system. Gandhi assured students of Congress’s support, emphasizing that the party stands with them to protect their future.

Allegations of Education System Takeover and Privatization
Gandhi remarked that India’s education system was once respected globally, but it is now under constant attack. He alleged attempts to seize control of and privatize the education system.

He held Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh equally responsible for the current state of education. Gandhi accused them of undermining institutional autonomy and the credibility of the academic system.

He characterized Pradhan’s resignation as merely a symbolic beginning and demanded an apology from the Prime Minister for the examination controversies and the distress caused to students.

Amit Shah Blamed for Student Violence
Gandhi also leveled serious accusations against Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He stated that Shah is directly responsible for the violence during student protests and the police actions against demonstrators.

He alleged that violent measures, including pellet guns, were used against protesting students. Gandhi insisted that such police actions against students expressing their demands democratically are unacceptable.

He called for accountability for officials responsible for the actions taken against students and injuries inflicted upon them. He stressed that the issue cannot be resolved merely by the resignation of the education minister, and a fair investigation into the actions taken against students is essential.

Dharmendra Pradhan resigned on Saturday amidst a prolonged student movement against the NEET paper leak and alleged irregularities in the examination system. Following his resignation, protesting organizations hailed it as a victory for the students.
