Srinagar, January 16: Authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have preemptively closed several key roads, including the Gurez-Bandipora road, Mughal Road, and Sinthan Top, following forecasts of rain and snowfall in the region.

An official stated that the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remains operational for traffic. However, travelers have been urged to adhere to lane discipline to prevent traffic jams. Passengers are advised to undertake journeys during the day on the Jammu-Srinagar road and avoid unnecessary halts between Ramban and Banihal due to potential landslides or falling stones.
These preventive measures come as the Meteorological Department has issued warnings of heavy rain and snowfall, which could disrupt normal life and travel in the region. Travelers are encouraged to stay updated on weather conditions and road status to ensure safe and hassle-free journeys.
