Jaipur, June 10: Satish Poonia, the BJP’s Rajya Sabha candidate known for his simplicity and grassroots connection in Rajasthan’s politics, has made a distinctive social appeal to his supporters. After filing his nomination for the 2026 Rajya Sabha elections, he released a video message on his official social media platforms urging a shift from traditional welcoming customs.
In the video, Poonia requested his supporters to refrain from spending excessively on grand floral garlands, expensive gifts, turbans, and shawls. He emphasized that a single flower would suffice as a gesture of respect. Linking this to simplicity and social responsibility, he encouraged the saved funds to be directed towards the welfare of the underprivileged and mute animals.
In his social media message, he expressed confidence that his supporters would seriously consider this special appeal and extend their cooperation. Following his message, discussions have erupted among BJP workers and the general public.
Poonia highlighted books as the best gifts, suggesting that if anyone wishes to present something, they should opt for useful and enlightening literature instead of costly items. He stated that books serve as a guide for society and hold more value than any material gift.
Expressing his commitment to cow welfare, Poonia urged supporters to donate any funds intended for him to a registered cow shelter. He noted that providing financial support to these shelters and receiving a receipt would bring him greater joy than any gift.
Linking his appeal to social causes, he mentioned that assisting differently-abled individuals, supporting children in orphanages, and helping economically disadvantaged yet talented students in their education would be the true honors for him. He remarked that if a supporter helps a needy student continue their studies or contributes to an orphanage, it would be regarded as the greatest respect.
