Sikar, August 14: The electoral process for local bodies and district chief positions in Rajasthan is advancing following the lottery for reservation. Urban Development and Housing Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra announced that the dates for the local body and Panchayati Raj elections are expected to be declared soon. After the completion of the reservation process, the list will be sent to the Election Commission, which will then announce the election schedule.
On Friday afternoon, Kharra visited Neemkathana, where he participated in a felicitation ceremony for Rajesh Gurjar Narda, who was appointed as the state minister for the BJP Kisan Morcha. During this event, he addressed various issues, including the upcoming local body elections, candidate selection, paper leaks, and rural development.
Lottery for Ward Reservations on August 17
Kharra stated that the lottery for the reservation of chairperson positions in local bodies has already been conducted. The lottery for ward reservations will take place on August 17. Following this, the reservation list will be sent to the Election Commission on August 18 or 19. The commission will then announce the election dates.
The minister urged party workers and the public to prioritize development when selecting candidates. He emphasized that the effective implementation of welfare schemes by both the central and state governments is only possible if development reaches villages and hamlets.
Opportunities for New and Active Workers
Regarding the inclusion of new faces in the local body and Panchayati Raj elections, Kharra mentioned that the BJP provides opportunities for qualified and active workers to contest elections. Youth, women, and senior workers who have been active in the community will all have a chance to step forward within the party.
Over 600 Arrests in Paper Leak Cases
On the issue of paper leaks, Minister Kharra stated that the state government is working to ensure transparency and fairness in competitive examinations. He claimed that over 600 individuals have been arrested in connection with paper leak cases.
Kharra assured that competitive examinations conducted over the past 31 months have been carried out fairly and transparently. The government’s aim is to protect the interests of hardworking youth and prevent any manipulation.
Targeting Congress on MGNREGA
Kharra criticized Congress regarding rural employment and development initiatives. He noted that previously, MGNREGA projects involved merely moving soil from one place to another. Now, through the central government’s “Developed India Ji-Ram-Ji” scheme, there is an emphasis on permanent and solid construction projects in villages.
He asserted that there will not be a single gram panchayat in Rajasthan without solid construction work. Kharra also mentioned that under this scheme, an annual budget of approximately 80 crore rupees will be allocated for each assembly constituency.
