Vivo X300 Ultra Unveils Groundbreaking 200MP Periscope Telephoto Camera

Mumbai, March 6: Vivo Product Manager Han Boxiao recently confirmed that the upcoming Vivo X300 Ultra will be the first smartphone globally to feature a 200-megapixel Sony LYT-901 sensor as its primary camera. In a follow-up post on Weibo, he shared exciting details about the device’s periscope telephoto camera, emphasizing enhancements designed to elevate zoom photography and video stability.

Boxiao’s latest Weibo update reveals that the Vivo X300 Ultra will boast a fifth-generation ZEISS 200-megapixel “Thanos” periscope telephoto camera built on a Samsung HP0 sensor. This camera is integrated with Vivo’s BlueImage imaging technology, which optimizes color accuracy, autofocus performance, HDR processing, and power efficiency.

The X300 Ultra is set to introduce a large-sensor telephoto lens featuring 3° optical image stabilization, reviving Vivo’s earlier gimbal-style stabilization concept. Traditional telephoto lenses typically offer stabilization between 0.7° and 1°, while the previous X200 Ultra achieved 1.2°. The new system reportedly enhances stabilization performance by two to three times, providing what Vivo describes as gimbal-level steadiness.

According to Boxiao, the telephoto camera meets CIPA 7.0-level professional stabilization standards, usually reserved for dedicated cameras. This advancement allows for longer and steadier exposure times, improving light intake and simplifying high-zoom photography for casual users. The stabilization feature is especially beneficial when capturing images at long focal lengths, such as 200mm, 400mm, or beyond, particularly in handheld video scenarios.

With this innovation, the Vivo X300 Ultra will debut as the world’s first flagship smartphone equipped with dual 200-megapixel cameras. Recent reports indicate that the rear camera setup will also include a Sony LYT-828 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 5-megapixel multispectral sensor for enhanced color accuracy.
