Bharatpur, June 23: A significant rally advocating for Jat reservation was held at the Numaiash Maidan in Bharatpur on Monday. Organized by the Jat Reservation Struggle Committee, the event drew a large crowd from Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Deeg, as well as attendees from other states. Hanuman Beniwal, the leader of the National Democratic Party and a Member of Parliament, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the need to secure central reservation for the Jat community in these regions.
Beniwal asserted his readiness to make any sacrifice in the fight for the dignity and rights of the Jat community. He accused both the central and state BJP governments of discriminating against the Jat society, highlighting the absence of any Jat leader in the central cabinet and the lack of representation for Jat legislators in the state cabinet.
He stated that he is prepared to fight not just for the Jat community, but for all marginalized groups facing injustice. Beniwal described the reservation movement as a struggle for social justice and rights, pledging that the fight would continue until the Jat community in Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Deeg receives the benefits of central reservation.
During the rally, Beniwal also leveled accusations of corruption against state government ministers and criticized the Bhajanlal government. He noted that public dissatisfaction with the government’s performance is rising and will likely have political repercussions in the future. Beniwal called for a new wave of public awareness akin to the JP movement.
An interesting incident occurred when Beniwal mentioned Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma while criticizing the BJP government. Nadbai MLA Jagat Singh attempted to signal Beniwal to stop speaking. Beniwal acknowledged the gesture but adjusted his comments accordingly.
Following this, both Jagat Singh and Deeg-Kumher MLA Dr. Shailesh Singh declared they would not tolerate any negative remarks about the state government and left the rally. Beniwal quipped that perhaps they were going to collect reservation slips.
Jagat Singh expressed his deep concern regarding the reservation issue, affirming his commitment to stand with the community. Dr. Shailesh Singh noted that the reservation matter had previously been raised with the central government and promised to address any procedural shortcomings through the state government.
MP Sanjana Jatav also voiced her concerns about the reservation issue during the rally, stating that her attempts to raise the topic in the Lok Sabha were thwarted. She emphasized that this matter, tied to the rights of the community, should be discussed both in Parliament and on the streets.
Naim Singh Faujdar, the coordinator of the Jat Reservation Struggle Committee, declared that the fight would persist until the community secures its constitutional rights. He urged unity among the Jat society and vowed to strengthen the movement for their rights.
This rally is seen as politically significant, as Beniwal has been working to consolidate the Jat vote bank in the Bharatpur region. There has been longstanding dissatisfaction among the Jat community regarding the lack of central reservation, and this discontent towards the BJP is gaining attention.
Political analysts believe that the reservation issue, being linked to the central government, could increase pressure on the BJP. The absence of adequate representation for local Jat leaders in the cabinet is also viewed as a source of frustration within the community.
The Bharatpur rally is regarded as a pivotal moment in reinvigorating the Jat reservation movement politically. The presence of community leaders, elected representatives, and a large audience signals that the reservation issue in Bharatpur, Dholpur, and Deeg may become increasingly significant in the political landscape ahead.
