Congress Protests in Jaipur Over Paper Leak Scandal and Ministers Resignation

Jaipur, July 22: Congress workers took to the streets of Jaipur for the second consecutive day, demanding a discussion in Parliament regarding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the paper leak scandal. The protesters attempted to encircle the BJP state office but were met with barricades set up by the police in front of the Jaipur Police Commissionerate.

During the protest, there were scuffles between police and Congress leaders trying to advance. To control the crowd, police used water cannons to disperse the demonstrators. Amid the chaos, a female participant fainted due to the forceful water spray.

Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra, and opposition leader Tikaram Julie were among the senior leaders and numerous workers present at the protest.

The Congress workers marched from the state headquarters towards the BJP office, passing the Government Hostel Circle before reaching the police commissionerate, where heavy police presence and barricades were already in place.

As the workers attempted to breach the barricades, tensions escalated between police officers and several leaders, including Dotasra. The police responded by using water cannons to push the protesters back. After chanting slogans and demonstrating for a while, the Congress workers eventually retreated.

After the protest, Govind Singh Dotasra launched a fierce attack on the BJP and the central government. He accused the BJP of using police force to suppress dissent and evading accountability regarding the paper leak issue affecting the youth.

Dotasra controversially labeled BJP leaders as “descendants of Nathuram Godse,” asserting that they excel at quelling movements. He emphasized that Congress workers are prepared to face any action in their fight for the rights of the youth.

He stated that the Congress would accept nothing less than the dismissal of Dharmendra Pradhan, justice for students, and a comprehensive discussion on the paper leak issue in the Lok Sabha.

Dotasra also criticized the BJP’s previous demonstrations, calling them “match-fixing.” He alleged that during the BJP protests, police only lightly sprayed water, allowing their demonstrators to leave peacefully, while Congress workers faced harsh treatment.

The Congress state president claimed that numerous competitive exam question papers have been leaked across the country, yet the central government has failed to hold anyone accountable or take decisive action against the culprits.

Traffic on MI Road was disrupted due to the Congress protest and heavy police deployment. Many vehicles were redirected to alternative routes because of the barricades and the crowd of protesters.

After the protest concluded and Congress workers returned, traffic gradually returned to normal. Police officials had deployed additional forces throughout the event to maintain law and order.

The Congress party has stated that its movement regarding the paper leak, alleged police action against students, and accountability of the Union Education Minister will continue.
