Jaipur, June 18: Sachin Pilot, the National General Secretary of Congress and former Deputy Chief Minister, has called on the Rajasthan government to take immediate action regarding the Panchna Dam dispute. He emphasized the need for the government to engage in dialogue with all stakeholders and ensure compliance with the orders of the honorable High Court. Pilot stated that water is a necessity for everyone, and sensitive issues like this should not lead to tension or discord among communities.
Pilot highlighted that there has been a prolonged movement concerning the Panchna Dam, with various parties expressing their concerns and demands. He pointed out that farmers from 360 villages along the river also have their perspectives. It is the government’s responsibility to build trust and facilitate discussions while respecting judicial decisions to find a resolution.
In reference to issues raised by Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, during a visit to Kota, Pilot discussed serious questions regarding the country’s education system and competitive exams. He noted that the financial burden of coaching and private institutions falls heavily on middle-class and rural families. Despite spending substantial amounts, many students fail to achieve success, leading to uncertainty about their employment and future.
Pilot expressed concern that after years of hard work, students face issues such as paper leaks, exam cancellations, and discrepancies in evaluation, which breed disappointment and distrust. This situation can lead to mental stress among youth, which is alarming.
He pointed out that there have been continuous incidents of paper leaks in recent years. Issues like the removal of questions post-exam, lack of transparency in evaluation, and new processes create confusion among students. He stressed that young people should have confidence in the examination system, ensuring it is fair, transparent, and accountable. Any irregularities should be met with strict action against the culprits.
Regarding the Sub-Inspector recruitment exam, Pilot questioned the interview process. He noted that many states have abolished interviews for SI recruitment. He argued that reducing interviews would decrease the likelihood of manipulation and irregularities. If several states have adopted a merit-based selection process, Rajasthan should seriously consider this approach as well.
Pilot urged the Rajasthan government to eliminate the interview system in SI recruitment and implement a merit-based selection process. He believes this would enhance transparency, fairness, and restore youth confidence in the recruitment process. He concluded by stating that the government should make sensitive and accountable decisions regarding issues that impact the future of young people.
