
Chennai, March 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Chennai on Saturday for a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. During this trip, he will inaugurate development projects, participate in political events, and engage in a religious visit.
Upon his arrival from Gujarat, he was welcomed by Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi, Union Minister L. Murugan, AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami, and other senior leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Prime Minister Modi will spend the night at the Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan and will head to Puducherry the following morning.
In Puducherry, he will attend a rally for the National Democratic Alliance and perform the ground-breaking ceremony for development projects worth ₹2,700 crore. These initiatives aim to enhance infrastructure and public services in Puducherry and its surrounding areas.
On Sunday afternoon, the Prime Minister will travel to Madurai, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation for infrastructure projects valued at ₹4,400 crore. These efforts are expected to improve road connectivity, urban infrastructure, and regional development in southern Tamil Nadu.
At around 4 PM on Sunday, Prime Minister Modi will offer prayers at the historic Tirupparankundram Subramanya Swamy Temple, one of the six main temples dedicated to Lord Murugan.
His visit will also include the inauguration of a new four-lane highway connecting Madakkaln-Puducherry and Paramakudi-Ramanathapuram. This development is anticipated to enhance connectivity between cities and promote trade and tourism.
Under the Amrit Bharat scheme, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate eight redeveloped railway stations in Tamil Nadu to the nation, including Morappur, Bomidi, Srivilliputhur, Cholavandan, Manapparai, Pollachi Junction, Karaikudi Junction, and Thiruvarur Junction.
Additionally, three new All India Radio FM relay transmitters will be launched in Kumbakonam, Yercaud, and Vellore to strengthen broadcasting services in Tamil Nadu.
This visit by the Prime Minister combines infrastructure inaugurations with public outreach, drawing significant attention from the public and political circles ahead of crucial upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu.
