New Delhi, February 28: Senior Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has reacted to the acquittal of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the liquor policy case.
In an interview with a news agency, Dikshit stated, “When Arvind Kejriwal was released yesterday, it became clear that there was a collusion between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). We had anticipated this outcome. I made a similar statement in the morning. Whether Kejriwal remains out or not will not make a difference in Delhi. The BJP currently needs him to be used against Congress in the upcoming elections in Punjab, Uttarakhand, and other states.”
Dikshit emphasized that he does not consider any of the involved parties innocent. He also refrained from suggesting that the government influences the judiciary. “If the CBI had not prepared the case, what have they been doing for the past two years? I believe there must have been instructions to act this way, as we do not see this in other cases,” he remarked.
Regarding the bail granted to Uday Bhanu Chib, president of the Youth Congress, Dikshit expressed that there was nothing surprising about it. He stated, “The surprising part is that he was arrested at all. Protests occurred during the AI Summit, and if the government dislikes opposition, that is their prerogative. However, for the past 60-70 years, not just Congress but every party has protested in Indian democracy. Some even protested in front of Manmohan Singh.”
He added, “It is a well-known practice that if a protest is deemed inappropriate, individuals are detained and taken to the police station, only to be released later. Nothing significant came from the AI Summit. The Youth Congress protested, and the government has begun to impose punishments at their discretion. The allegations made against them seem baseless. I hope that when the matter goes to court, the Youth Congress workers will receive relief.”
