Bharatpur, March 23: In a significant operation, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested a corrupt Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) named Praveen Kumar, who was caught red-handed accepting a bribe in the Rupwas police station area of Bharatpur district. The ACB apprehended ASI Kumar while he was receiving a bribe of ₹12,000 from a complainant.
According to ACB officials, they received a complaint alleging that ASI Praveen Kumar had been harassing the complainant for a long time. The ASI demanded a bribe in exchange for assistance in removing the complainant’s brother’s name from a registered case during the investigation. Under the guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police Amit Singh, the ACB conducted a discreet verification of the complaint. The verification confirmed the demand for a bribe, leading to a planned trap. As soon as the complainant handed over the ₹12,000, the ACB swiftly arrested ASI Kumar and seized the bribe amount.
Following the arrest, ACB officials are interrogating ASI Praveen Kumar. They may conduct searches at his residence and other locations to investigate any disproportionate assets or additional evidence of corruption. A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigations are ongoing. This incident has caused a stir within the police department. The ACB has urged the public to report any instances of public servants demanding bribes for services.
