West Bengal Governor C.V. Anand Bose Resigns, Heads to Kerala for New Mission

Kolkata, March 7: C.V. Anand Bose, the Governor of West Bengal, has officially resigned from his position. His resignation letter was shared on the official social media handle of the Raj Bhavan, where he expressed his intention to conclude his tenure in Bengal and embark on a new mission in Kerala.

This resignation comes just ahead of the 2026 state assembly elections, stirring political discussions across the region.

Bose stated, “My tenure in West Bengal is coming to an end. I am deeply grateful for the love and respect I received from the great people of Bengal. I am heading to Kerala to work towards a developed India.”

He further added, “I will strive to achieve the goals of this great mission under the guidance of national leadership and will do my utmost to advance the cause of my beloved Kerala, my home state.”

Bose expressed gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Home Minister Amit Shah, describing this new mission as a sacred duty. He also extended best wishes to his successor, R.N. Ravi, the Governor of Tamil Nadu, stating, “I wish my dear friend and renowned public administrator R.N. Ravi all the best as he becomes my illustrious successor. Tomorrow, I will head towards fresh forests and pastures. Vande Mataram.”

A 1977 batch IAS officer from the Kerala cadre, C.V. Anand Bose took office as the Governor of West Bengal in November 2022. His tenure has been marked by several controversies with the Mamata Banerjee government. His resignation has been sent to the President’s House in Delhi and has been accepted.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed surprise at the resignation. She posted on social media that the reasons for the resignation are unclear, but the possibility of political pressure from the Home Minister before the elections cannot be ruled out. She mentioned that the Centre informed her that R.N. Ravi would be the new governor, but no consultation took place with her.
