Jaipur, March 29: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has once again launched a sharp attack on the Bhajanlal government regarding the construction of the world’s third-largest cricket stadium in Chomp village, near Jaipur. In the sixth chapter of his popular series ‘Intzarshastra,’ Gehlot raised serious questions about the ambitious international project, alleging that it has been stalled due to political animosity.
In a video message, he stated that the foundation stone for this stadium was laid during the Congress government’s tenure, with a target completion date set for 2024. However, after 36 months, the project remains incomplete. Gehlot questioned why, despite spending millions, players in the state lack access to international-level facilities.
He also targeted the state’s sports administration, noting that elections for the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) have not been held for the past two years, leading to administrative voids that are affecting the future of cricket in the region. Gehlot urged the Bhajanlal government to set aside political grudges and prioritize the interests of players by completing the project promptly.
Notably, Gehlot has been running the ‘Intzarshastra’ series on social media, highlighting projects initiated during his government that are reportedly incomplete or stalled under the current administration. This series has gone viral and sparked political debates. Gehlot linked the issue to a ‘sports-hostile mindset,’ arguing that such policies are causing Rajasthan to fall behind in the sports arena. Following his statements, discussions have intensified regarding whether the Chomp stadium project is truly stalled due to budgetary or policy issues, or if it is merely a part of political blame games.
