Jaipur, June 1: BJP state president Madan Rathore has expressed serious concerns regarding a protest by National Democratic Party (RLP) workers in Kuchaman. He alleged that the protesters attacked his vehicle with sticks, indicating that their intention was not merely to protest but to cause him harm.
Speaking to the media at the state BJP office on Sunday, Rathore stated he was on his way to a party training program and was puzzled by the nature of the protest against him. He mentioned that if the protesters wanted to submit a memorandum, he would have willingly exited his vehicle to receive it. However, the assault on his car suggested a more sinister motive behind the demonstration.
Rathore noted that when the attack on his vehicle began, he sensed a serious intent behind the protest. He emphasized that such incidents are not in line with democratic values and expressed concern over the trend of turning political disagreements into violence.
Highlighting the need for decorum and civility in political discourse, Rathore remarked that while opposition is a natural part of politics, both language and behavior should adhere to democratic norms. He stressed the importance of maintaining respect and dialogue, even amidst political differences.
Rathore asserted that the success of democracy lies in a strong and effective opposition, but the conduct of the opposition must also be dignified and responsible. He accused some leaders of making statements that mislead society, which he deemed inappropriate for democratic culture.
In response to questions about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi‘s visit to Pushkar and the Congress training camp, Rathore welcomed any inspiration other political parties might draw from BJP training programs. However, he took a jab at Gandhi, stating that the role of a trainer is crucial in a training program, and the entire nation is familiar with Gandhi’s style of functioning.
