Deogarh, March 31: In a significant operation named “Operation Trinetra,” police in Deogarh, along with the Drug Suppression Team (DST), seized 2 kilograms and 166 grams of illegal opium. Two suspects were arrested during the operation, which also involved the confiscation of a vehicle and a motorcycle used for transporting the narcotics. The estimated value of the seized opium is around 10 lakh rupees.
The operation began when police set up a checkpoint on the Jakhm Road, ahead of the Fanta area. An Eco car, bearing the registration number RJ 27 CE-6312, was spotted approaching from the Gyaspur direction. Upon signaling the vehicle to stop, the driver appeared anxious. When questioned, he identified himself as Balram Singh, a 50-year-old resident of Teriyakhadi, Pratapgarh district. He revealed that his accomplice was following him on a motorcycle, carrying the illegal substance.
As police inquired about the motorcycle, a man riding a Honda Dream Yuva motorcycle, with the registration number RJ 12 SP-0560, approached at high speed. The rider attempted to flee upon noticing the police but was quickly apprehended. He identified himself as Jaydeep Singh, a 41-year-old from Chamanaji ka Pipliya, also in Pratapgarh district.
Upon searching Jaydeep’s backpack, officers discovered two separate plastic bags containing the illegal opium, weighing a total of 2 kilograms and 166 grams. The police seized the opium, the Eco car, and the motorcycle. Both suspects were arrested, and a case was registered at the Deogarh police station, initiating further investigation.
When questioned about the source of the opium, the suspects indicated that it was obtained from Motisingh, a resident of Kolvi Mandir, and was intended for delivery to Tajeng Patel in Bodigama, Dungarpur district.
