Congress Protests Water Crisis in Jaipur, Demands Government Action

Jaipur, May 25: In response to the escalating water crisis, Congress workers staged a strong protest outside the Water Building on Monday, targeting the state government for its negligence. The demonstrators accused the government of failing to address the drinking water shortage, chanting slogans and breaking clay pots as a symbolic act of dissent. To manage the situation, police locked the main entrance of the Water Building.

The Congress activists marched from Civil Lines to the Water Building, conducting a “Water Yatra.” During the protest, many workers lay down on the hot road to express their grievances against the water crisis. This act caused traffic disruptions at Hasanpura Circle for about ten minutes, leading to congestion in nearby areas.

Protesters Climb the Water Building Gates
During the demonstration, Congress legislators and activists climbed the main gate of the Water Building, demanding that police open it. As tensions rose, police forces had to exercise extra caution. Law enforcement and administrative officials attempted to negotiate with the protesters to maintain order.

Congress leaders claimed that despite the intense heat, water supply was disrupted in several areas, leaving the public without adequate drinking water. They accused the government of failing in water management.

Khachariyawas Criticizes the Government
Former minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas launched a fierce attack on the state government during the protest. He warned that if the public’s water issues were not resolved, they would serve the same dirty water to the Chief Minister and ministers. He threatened to cut off the water connections of the Chief Minister and ministers if necessary. Khachariyawas emphasized that the government should focus on the basic problems faced by the public, stating that people are suffering for water during the summer, while the government merely makes claims.

Political Climate Intensifies Over Water Crisis
The Congress party is persistently attempting to corner the government regarding the water crisis in the capital. Party leaders assert that water supply is irregular in many areas, forcing residents to rely on tankers. Meanwhile, the government claims that it is continuously monitoring water management in the state and implementing alternative arrangements in affected regions. The protest led to significant political and administrative activity around the Water Building and its vicinity for an extended period.
