Political Buzz Grows in Rajasthan Congress Ahead of Rajya Sabha Elections

Jaipur, May 25: Political activity within the Rajasthan Congress is intensifying as the party prepares to select a candidate for the Rajya Sabha elections. Indications suggest that the Congress high command is deeply deliberating on candidate selection. In this context, KC Venugopal, the National Organization General Secretary of Congress, is expected to visit Jaipur and Ajmer on May 25, Monday. According to party sources, he may discuss the selection of the Rajya Sabha candidate with senior leaders of the Rajasthan Congress during his visit.

Reports indicate that KC Venugopal will also participate in a ten-day training camp for district presidents of the Rajasthan and Delhi Congress at the Pushkar Valley Resort. During this camp, strategic discussions regarding the Rajya Sabha elections are anticipated with key leaders, including Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa, the state in-charge, Govind Singh Dotasra, the state president, and opposition leader Tikaram Julie, all of whom are currently present at the Pushkar training camp.

Emphasis on Local Candidates
There is a growing demand within the political corridors of Rajasthan Congress to nominate a local leader for the Rajya Sabha elections this time. The party is emphasizing that only a leader actively involved in the state’s politics should be sent to the Rajya Sabha. Sources suggest that the Congress high command may consider names of leaders from various communities, keeping social and political equations in mind.

Names of Congress leaders associated with the Rajput, Dalit, and Brahmin communities are reportedly being discussed. Prominent contenders include Congress National General Secretary Bhawar Jitendra Singh, Rajya Sabha MP Neeraj Dangi, and Congress National Spokesperson Pawan Khera. Discussions are ongoing regarding these leaders’ political activity, organizational experience, and social dynamics.

Demand for Muslim Candidates
A faction within the Congress is also advocating for a candidate from the Muslim community. Recently, Congress leaders connected to the Muslim community held a meeting in Jaipur under the hospitality of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. This meeting addressed the long-standing issue of insufficient representation for the Muslim community in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

During the meeting, there was a demand made to the Congress high command to nominate a senior Congress leader from the Muslim community for the Rajya Sabha elections in Rajasthan. This demand has sparked increased political discussions within the party.

Increased Political Activity Amid Pushkar Camp
The ongoing organizational training camp in Pushkar is now considered politically significant as well. The discussions surrounding the selection of the Rajya Sabha candidate have heightened the political importance of this camp. The Congress high command appears focused on strengthening its organization while navigating upcoming political equations.

All eyes are now on KC Venugopal’s anticipated visit and the high command’s forthcoming strategy, which could provide a new direction for the future politics of Rajasthan Congress.
