Kota, June 16: Political activity in Rajasthan has intensified ahead of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi‘s scheduled visit to Kota on June 17. The Congress party has accused the BJP government of feeling threatened by the upcoming ‘Students’ Voice’ rally and attempting to suppress its promotion. They claim that local authorities are removing posters and banners, while coaching institutes, PG accommodations, and guest house operators are being pressured to discourage student participation. In response, the BJP has dismissed these allegations as unfounded, labeling them as signs of Congress’s political desperation. Rahul Gandhi will be joined by Sachin Pilot, the All India Congress Committee General Secretary and MLA from Tonk, during the event.
State Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra addressed the youth through social media, stating that the growing discontent among students and young people across the country will manifest as a significant public voice in Kota. He emphasized that this rally is not just for students but a fight for the future and rights of the youth. Dotasra criticized the central government for issues related to paper leaks, irregularities in recruitment exams, and a lack of job opportunities, claiming that the dreams of young people are being continuously undermined.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also highlighted the importance of Rahul Gandhi’s visit, pointing out that the trust of youth in the system has weakened due to paper leaks and irregularities in recruitment exams nationwide. He noted that Kota is a major coaching hub, making it crucial for students to raise their voices in such an environment. Gehlot accused the central government of not taking youth issues seriously and evading accountability on educational matters.
Gehlot further claimed that an atmosphere is being created suggesting that Kota’s MP and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is opposing the event. He reported receiving complaints about pressure and intimidation directed at coaching institutes and others to stay away from the rally, which he argued is not in line with democratic values.
The Congress party’s official social media platforms have also alleged that posters and banners related to Rahul Gandhi’s event are being removed. They assert that the voices of youth cannot be silenced and that a large number of students will participate in the rally. Congress leaders believe that Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Kota will be a significant step towards raising issues concerning youth, competitive exams, and employment on a national level.
Meanwhile, the BJP has rejected Congress’s accusations, stating that such claims are merely attempts to gain political advantage and create a narrative around the event. BJP leaders maintain that all political activities in the state are conducted in accordance with the law and administrative regulations.
