Jaipur . March 30, 2025 A fresh wave of winter chill has returned to Rajasthan as cold northerly winds sweep across the state. Several cities, including Mount Abu, Hanumangarh, and Fatehpur, have recorded nighttime temperatures below 10°C, signaling a surprising dip in mercury levels for this time of year.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for light rainfall and thunderstorms in eight districts of South Rajasthan on April 2, as a Western Disturbance is expected to become active.
Temperature Drops Across Rajasthan
Rajasthan experienced fluctuating weather in the last 24 hours. While the morning skies remained clear with strong winds across regions such as Jaipur, Dausa, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Sikar, and Nagaur, temperatures across the state saw a noticeable decline.
By afternoon, clouds covered southeastern parts of the state, providing relief from the heat. The highest temperature recorded was 34.4°C in Phalodi, while Barmer, Dholpur, Dungarpur, and Kota hovered around 33.5°C. Other cities like Jaisalmer (32.4°C), Jodhpur (32°C), Bikaner (31.8°C), Churu (31.2°C), and Jaipur (31.8°C) saw below-average day temperatures.
In Jaipur, while the day remained mostly clear, cloud cover emerged by late evening, followed by cool breezes, bringing nighttime temperatures down to 18.4°C.
Severe Cold in Select Cities
Due to strong northern winds, certain cities witnessed a sharp drop in nighttime temperatures:

IMD Jaipur Director Radheyshyam Sharma stated that cold conditions will continue until April 1 due to prevailing northerly winds. On April 2, a Western Disturbance is expected to activate, likely bringing light rain and thunderstorms with cloudy skies over parts of South Rajasthan.
