Udaipur, June 20, 2025 — Hindustan Zinc Limited (NSE: HINDZINC), the world’s largest integrated zinc producer, has successfully wrapped up its impactful Shiksha Sambal Summer Camp 2025, benefiting more than 1,500 students from 72 government schools across Rajasthan’s underserved rural regions.

Organised under the company’s Shiksha Sambal Program, in collaboration with Vidya Bhawan Society, the summer camp integrated academics, skill development, sports, and cultural activities — fostering holistic growth for rural students. Over the years, Rajasthan’s Class 10 pass percentage has soared from 45% in 2007 to an impressive 93.6% in 2025 — with Shiksha Sambal playing a pivotal role in bridging learning gaps and reducing dropout rates. The initiative now positively impacts over 2 lakh children every year across rural Rajasthan.
Supporting First-Generation Learners
The summer camp aims to empower first-generation learners, many of whom face financial and social challenges that often derail their academic progress. The 2025 edition reached students across Udaipur, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh, Ajmer, and Agucha, providing crucial academic and personal development during a vital phase of their education.
The closing ceremony, held at Kumbha Sabhagar, Pratap Gaurav Kendra, showcased student projects, performances, and exhibitions, with participation from Anupam Nidhi, Head CSR – Vedanta & Hindustan Zinc, alongside dignitaries from Vidya Bhawan Society and community stakeholders.
“Investing in India’s Future”
Commenting on the initiative, Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, said:
“At Hindustan Zinc, we view education as a long-term investment in the nation’s future. Shiksha Sambal is about more than academics — it fosters confidence, curiosity, and character among students who lack access to resources. Every child, regardless of geography, deserves quality education and exposure.”
Residential & Non-Residential Camps
This year’s camp included over 300 residential students at Vidya Bhawan School, Udaipur, and nearly 1,200 students at non-residential camps in Agucha, Chittorgarh, Dariba, Debari, Zawar, and Kayad.
Manasvi, a student from the residential camp, shared: “This camp gave us an environment we rarely experience at home. Studying together, participating in group activities, and learning from new teachers made us more confident and focused.”
Wide-Ranging Volunteer Participation
The initiative was facilitated by dedicated project teachers and more than 90 volunteers from Gargi College, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune, and Delhi University. Hindustan Zinc employees also actively volunteered, mentoring children across the company’s operational areas.
Asha, a Class X student from Bhilwara, said: “Earlier, I struggled with science. Now, I feel confident — I want to become an engineer and help younger students from my village, just as I was supported through Shiksha Sambal.”
Long-Term Educational Commitment
The Shiksha Sambal Program reflects Hindustan Zinc’s larger mission to uplift underprivileged children through education in Rajasthan. Recently, the company signed an MoU with the Department of Education, Rajasthan, committing ₹36 crores over five years to further educational development in the state.
At the 28th Bhamashah Awards, the company was honored with six awards under the Shiksha Vibhushan category — the state’s highest recognition for contributions to education and social impact.
Other educational initiatives include Unchi Udaan, supporting low-income IIT aspirants, and Jeevan Tarang, empowering children with hearing and speech disabilities.
Beyond Education: Holistic Social Impact
Beyond education, Hindustan Zinc plays a key role in promoting livelihood opportunities for rural women and farmers, healthcare access, water conservation, and sanitation, reaching over 23 lakh people across 2,300+ villages.
Ranked among India’s top 10 socially responsible corporates, Hindustan Zinc continues to drive inclusive, sustainable development — building a resilient, self-reliant Rajasthan rooted in innovation, inclusivity, and environmental responsibility.
