Udaipur, March 31: The new financial year brings a significant boost for electric vehicle (EV) users in Rajasthan. The Indian government has approved financial assistance of ₹81.12 crore to the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation for establishing public charging stations for electric vehicles. A total of 591 EV charging stations will be set up across 262 locations in the state, strengthening the EV charging infrastructure.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Rajasthan is emerging as a leading state in promoting green energy in the country. Continuous efforts are being made to expand the green energy network and enhance its effectiveness. In this context, the Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation submitted a proposal to the central government for establishing new EV charging stations under the Prime Minister’s E-Drive scheme. The approval from the central government marks a significant step towards promoting green energy and encouraging EV usage in the state.
Charging Stations in Major Cities
According to the approved plan, 112 charging stations will be established in Jaipur, 49 in Ajmer, 39 in Udaipur, and 28 in Kota. Additionally, 34 charging stations will be set up along national and state highways, providing convenience for long-distance EV users. All these charging stations will be located on land available from various government departments. The Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation will ensure the effective implementation of this project across the state.
Reducing Pollution and Promoting Clean Energy
This initiative will promote the use of pollution-free electric vehicles in the state. It will also contribute to a reduction in carbon emissions and pave the way for delivering clean, green energy to the public. Notably, the ‘PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-Drive)’ scheme aims to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, develop necessary charging infrastructure, and establish a robust EV manufacturing ecosystem in the country.
